New Year, New Song

Happy New Year! Here’s a new song and my favourite from the new bunch. It’s called “Chemistry” and if ever I was to have a single from the next album I think this would be it.  This will be the last taster before I eventually release  the (as yet untitled) new album sometime in the spring (hopefully).

New Song “Running Off the Edge of the World”

Here’s another new song, it’s a rough mix of a track called, “Running Off the Edge of the World”. It needs to be fully mixed and mastered but it’s pretty near the finished article. I thought I’d post it for the hell of it – but I really have to stop myself posting songs from the new album before it’s completed (I’m soooo impatient).  I hope you enjoy it, I’m quite pleased with it myself – a rare moment of self-congratulation there, don’t get used to it…

The Mister Fusty Christmas song will arrive at the start of December. Watch out!

“Sprung/Connect” New Fusty EP Compilation.

The two EP’s “Sprung” from 2008 and this year’s “Connect” have been handily compiled into one album, the unimaginatively titled, “Sprung/Connect”.

The reasoning behind this is to make these two EP’s available in more places, like iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, emusic, etc. Rather than put them out separately I decide to form them into an album (also it’s cheaper that way hee hee), also I’ve mixed the order about a bit so it flows more as one piece. If you don’t know the album is a mixture of vocals & instrumentals, and is the usual eclectic mix of shoddy but sweet tunes.

At the moment it’s just on iTunes but I’ll let you know when it’s everywhere else.

UPDATE: You can now buy the album at Amazon, Emusic and 7Digital. You can also listen on Spotify

Looking Forward

Hello there,

I’ve not posted any news for a while, so here’s a little update on the goings on in Fusty land, should you be bothered!

The Connect EP had a few nice reviews, links below, which was encouraging. I wish I could say I’ve raised a lot of money for charity – I haven’t. A shame but I tried. Either I’m not very good at getting the message out (likely), or the music must be really bad (possible) or people really don’t want to pay for any music these days, especially from an obscure hobbyist like me (bingo!). Not to worry though, I really like making all this stuff up so I’ll continue throwing these songs and musical nuggets out there. Tough!

For an experiment I put some of my music on a Bittorrent site, Mininova, who now only distribute legal torrents. It’s actually a great way of getting stuff out there, whether you are a movie-maker or musician, providing you don’t want to be paid for it of course. Anyway, I tried it and I had a LOT of downloads – well, for me anyway. Whether people actually liked what they downloaded I don’t know, but at least it brought the music to their attention. Perhaps it might persuade them to buy a lossless download or try one of my paid for albums, who knows? As long as more people hear the music I make I don’t really mind. I was never in this for the money, this is a hobby and will always be so. I might as well do this for all future releases, at least a few more people will hear it. Future releases..ah yes….

I’ve started work on the, as yet untitled, 4th Mister Fusty album. It’s at the very early stages yet but I have a few ideas, it’s hopefully going to be a bit different to the last, perhaps a little more experimental and lyrically I’m going for a different direction too. We shall see! I have a few older songs floating about that I may post here, songs that might not fit on the new album.

I have it on good authority that the very first Mister Fusty cover is happening, i.e. someone covering one of my songs as opposed to the other way around. I’m honoured that someone would actually want to play one of my songs so it’s a thrill for me. I won’t say anymore about who and when, watch this space!

There’s also a possible collaboration with some talented comic book artists in the pipeline, one of my new songs may feature in a some sort of comic book/music crossover scheme. More news on that to come but it sounds like a great project.

And finally the big news is…I’m doing a Christmas song! Yeah, why not eh? I’ve had a backing track floating around for a few months that is slighty too cheesy (even for my standards) to use on the new album but would make a great bit of festive frivolity. So all I need to do is write some pithy lyrics, add some vocals (and a few sleigh bells of course) and there we have it. Be afraid.

Mister Fusty’s Crazy Summer Sale!

Shop!

It’s summer time and you’ll be needing some nice music to have in the headphones for those lazy days on the sun lounger, baking on the beach or waiting wearily at the airport, won’t you? Never fear, Mister Fusty is here and he’s desperate to sell some albums a generous fellow and all three Mister Fusty albums are on sale for only £1 (that’s about $1.49 and €1.22 at the time of writing) and the Sprung EP is FREE. Not bad eh? If you’ve never heard much Fusty music before now is a good time to have a listen. The latest EP, “Connect” is still a reasonable £2.50 (It is for charity, come on).

These batsh*t crazy prices are only available at the Bandcamp store, or from any of the music players on the Listen/Download page.

Tell your friends! Oh go on..

UPDATE: The summer sale will end 1st August, earlier than expected, as Bandcamp will be taking percentage from then, which is fair enough. They have been offering the (excellent) services for free up until now.

‘Connect’ EP Out Now!

Connect

Mister Fusty’s latest EP, “Connect” is out now featuring 5 new tracks. All proceeds from the sale of this release will go to Cancer Research UK and World Society for the Protection of Animals.

My wife took part in the Race for Life (a charity fun run in aid of Cancer Research) last year and hopes to do so this year. She is always looking for sponsors, so I decided that this EP would sponsor her and hopefully raise money for a good cause. I also chose an international charity (WSPA) too to spilt the sales money between. Both are great causes, even if you hate the music please buy the EP! (It’s a bargain at only £2.50!)

Click here to go to Bandcamp to buy or use the player below.. Thank you.

Mister Fusty on Spotify

Spotify

Finally Mister Fusty’s music has made it to Spotify. If you don’t know what that is then basically it’s an excellent music streaming service starting from free (with adverts) to a monthly charge for premium (no adverts, mobile app etc.) Unfortunately it’s not available in all countries yet but hopefully it won’t be too long before it’s everywhere. You can now listen to Mister Fusty’s music on Spotify (except for the Sparkly Darkly album – no idea why) so click on the link to listen for free.

New Website design and Stuff

The Mister Fusty website is being updated and twiddled about with, please bear with us. The misterfusty.wordpress.com site is now gone, thanks to a friend (cheers Steven!) I have a new host, so misterfusty.com is back again!

OTHER NEWS

I plan, hopefully, to release two EPs this year. The first, as yet untitled, EP will appear in June and all proceeds will go to charity. The second should arrive in the Autumn, I say should as I’ve not written or recorded the songs yet…

More details to come on the first EP soon.

Getting fit with EXPO

Expo

Last year I collaborated on a track with John Lane from Expo on a track called “Fitness Suite”. He sent me a backing track and I warbled along, adding a bit of percussion, bass and other bits. Incredibly, he liked what I did and didn’t vow never to speak to me again for ruining his track.

Finally you can hear the fruits of our efforts at Expo’s Myspace site. The album, called “She Sells Seashells” is out in the summer NOW featuring collaborations with other artists. When it’s out I’ll let you know but until then listen to the track here.

Unfortunately no Stevie Wonder & Paul McCartney-style video is planned at the moment.

UPDATE: It’s out now! Go check it out at expo.bandcamp.com

Mister Fusty: Over the Rocky Mountains

For those wondering about a CD release it’s not going to happen unfortunately, as it’s too costly to make CDs, however if you go to the Bandcamp Fusty Shop you can download lossless FLAC music files of the album and burn them onto a CD.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let’s have a great 2010.
